Affordable Implants Reno NV
Restoring your missing teeth can be easier and more affordable than you think. Patients today have options when it comes to replacing teeth and improving their smile. We have options that can help you chew better, speak clearer and give you a permanent set of teeth that will remain in place. Dental implants have changed the restorative approach in dentistry, and our team at Reno-Tahoe Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center can help you find the right implant and accompanying prosthetic for your needs.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are not dentures; they are a metal or zirconium device that we use to secure a dental prosthetic permanently in place. We can use them to secure a single tooth, multiple teeth or even an entire arch of teeth.
The implant is similar in size and shape to a screw, coming in varying lengths and widths designed to meet each patients specific needs. One end is threaded, this end is the part that is sunk into the bone. As the bone heals, it will grow and heal around the device, the threads providing much more surface area for the bone to grow around, bonding the two together. The other end is designed to allow the prosthetic to attach, for some patients this may include a system that allows the prosthetic to snap on and off, for others the prothetic is firmly and permanently held in place.
The Surgical Process
The options for dental implants include options in the surgical process. Depending on your needs, we may use a single implant for a single restoration or as one part of an anchor, or we may use multiple implants. Additionally, some patients may receive a standard length implant that requires a bone graft, others may have longer implants designed to sink into thicker, denser bone, or others may have mini implants that are designed to be minimally invasive. The dental implant process is highly customizable depending on many aspects.
Standard Dental Implants
The standard dental implant is used to replace single or few teeth. For most patients, this will begin with a bone graft procedure to increase the amount of available bone. The process of growing sufficient bone can take months, and the entire process from start to finish can take a year. We first grow sufficient bone, we then surgically sink the implant into the bone, the bone then needs to heal and grow around the implant.
Immediate Load Dentures
With four to six longer implants, we can surgically install your dentures. Whether you just had your natural teeth removed, or have been missing them for years, we can provide a full set of dentures that will remain permanently in place in one office visit. This may sound extreme, but immediate load dentures are a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is approved for most patients, even those who are medically delicate. Though this process is more expensive than traditional loose dentures, the freedom of permanent dentures is immense.
